Swimming and aquatic activities form an integral part of teaching and learning, athletic competition, and community life at NIS.
Athletics
Nanjing International School provides opportunities to participate in 10 different competitive sports for students at all grade levels.
We welcome passionate student-athletes as well as those who would like to experience a new sport. Our programme seeks to provide a supportive environment where each individual can develop and grow. With an emphasis on sportsmanship, each student-athlete is challenged to learn and develop new skills, embrace the value of working together to achieve common goals, and become empowered to stretch their boundaries and self-expectations.
NIS offers Basketball, Football, Volleyball, Badminton, Swimming, Track & Field, Cross Country, Table Tennis, Golf, Softball, and Floor Hockey.
Ben dutton
Athletics Director
Whether playing coaching, teaching or spectating Mr. Dutton has a lifelong love of sports and learning. With over 20 years of physical education experience, he is passionate about inspiring and developing student athletes.
Teamwork. Respect. Commitment.
Athletics provides students with daily practice of the life skills needed to become a functioning adult. A season’s worth of practice shows the benefits and satisfaction provided by hard work. The sacrifice of individual glory for the benefit of the team reinforces qualities needed to be part of a community that is bigger than oneself.
The main purpose of Athletics is to generate interest in students and create an environment where they want to participate in sports beyond school. Our goal is to keep them active but help maintain a balance with their academic studies.
Athletic Conferences and Associations
NIS has an extensive sports exchange programme with other international schools located locally, within China, and beyond.
