IB Diploma Programme
The Diploma Programme at NIS is framed by personal excellence, transitioning to higher level learning, and preparation for university and life beyond school.
The International Baccaluareate Diploma Programme (DP) is widely regarded as the most academically rigorous pre-university curriculum in the world and it is accepted by over 2,500 institutions internationally, including leading universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Korea, China, and Singapore.
Our programme develops students who have an excellent range and depth of knowledge – those who thrive physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically.
Transitioning to Higher Level Learning
Students in Grade 10 are in their final year of the Middle Years Programme (MYP), yet the transition from MYP to the Diploma Programme is made smoother by the building of early relationships and connections with the Head of Secondary and other students in the division.
Parents and students in Grade 10 are counseled to make informed decisions about subject selection for Grades 11 and 12, taking into consideration students’ future aspirations beyond school.
"The IB DP allows our students to become internationally minded, creative, and encourages them to build a better, caring world with our Learner Profile at the heart of all we do. I aim to ensure the intellectual, emotional, and social needs of our students are met."
Paths to Graduation
Our school mission is underpinned by tenets of inclusivity and personal excellence.
We provide opportunities for all our students to succeed. While the majority of our students in Grades 11 and 12 opt to study the DP, we are proud to offer other routes to graduation for all learners to achieve success. Learn more about our graduation pathways.

Explore Our Diploma Programme
The Diploma Programme is excellent preparation for adult life, enabling students to be successful with their university studies and future careers.
Our programme lasts for two years: Grades 11-12. At our school, students choosing the DP benefit from a highly experienced international faculty with a wealth of IB Diploma experience, many of whom are IB examiners themselves.
The DP curriculum is made up of six subject groups and the DP core, comprising theory of knowledge (TOK), and the extended essay. Through the Diploma Programme core, students reflect on the nature of knowledge, complete independent research and undertake a project that often involves community service. Our Global Citizen Diploma (GCD) is a validation of activities and experiences that students do in addition to their academics.
