At NIS, we believe academic continuity in situations in which campus is not available is an essential part of our program. With this in mind, we have created a plan that aims to provide online learning rooted in our Mission, Strategy, and Definition of Learning. The key drivers in our approach to academic continuity in a virtual environment are:
- Prepare and practice for these eventualities to the extent possible
- Clearly communicate our Online Learning Framework
- Continue to follow our Child Protection Guidelines
- Prioritize communication around teaching and learning
- Provide high levels of support to our students and teachers
- Leverage our existing virtual platforms
- Track and promote student engagement
- Use feedback to improve both during and after any eventuality
We recognize that there are important differences between in-person and virtual learning, and that all situations in which academic continuity is required are unique. One constant in any eventuality is our commitment to student safety, social and emotional support, and the very best online learning we can provide.
