Counselling

The NIS counselling programme provides students with specialized support from social-emotional and university and career counsellors to nurture open-minded and holistic learners.

The Social-Emotional Counselling (SEC) Programme at NIS aims to cultivate a supportive and inclusive school community where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Our programme supports students from Early Years to Grade 12 through intentional advisory sessions, wellness sessions, and classroom counselling. We strive to foster self-awareness, social awareness, responsible decision-making, self-management, and relationship skills in our students. The SEC Programme empowers learners to develop these essential life skills by providing a safe space for discussions, activities, and reflections. By prioritising social-emotional development, we enhance student well-being, build positive relationships, and create a culture of respect and empathy within our school.

Our specialised University and Career Counseling (UCC) programme provides a culturally responsive, student-centred, and JEDI-focused (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) counselling approach for Grade 10 to 12 students within our curriculum. This programme empowers learners to build their self-efficacy in their university and career journey. Students are encouraged to think about the "why" in career and higher education exploration throughout their time at school, with diverse learning tools from Grade 10 to Grade 12. Our diverse learner group is guided with high-level expertise and sophisticated professional guidance through data-driven strategies, promoting student agency as transnational applicants and third culture/cross culture international learners.

These two counselling approaches recognize the dynamic diversity of our students and aim to support their overall success and well-being.
