Counselling

Our holistic counselling programme is proactive in nature, focusing on the academic and social-emotional development of the whole child.

Our Counselling team provides support for students, parents and teachers through observation, consultation, small group, 1:1 counselling, guidance lessons and workshops. Support is tailored for the developmental stage of the student and builds awareness in the following areas: communication and relationships, self-awareness, self-regulation, identity, and wellness. Completing the journey into life after NIS, our University Counselling helps guide students to their choice of best-fit university or next step.

We strongly believe in confidentiality. Our Counselling team practice “What happens here, stays here.” The only time we break confidentiality is if someone says they will hurt themselves or someone else, or if someone is in danger. We want students, parents and teachers to feel like it is a safe place to open up.

Social-Emotional Learning Programme

The Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Programme at NIS aims to cultivate a supportive and inclusive school community where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Our programme supports Early Years to Grade 12, through intentional advisory sessions, wellness sessions, and classroom counseling. We strive to foster self-awareness, social awareness, responsible decision-making, self-management, and relationship skills in our students.

Our programme empowers students to develop essential life skills that will benefit them beyond the classroom by providing a safe space for discussions, activities, and reflections. By prioritising social-emotional development, we can enhance student well-being, build positive relationships, and create a culture of respect and empathy within our school.

The SEL Programme equips students with the tools and mindset needed to navigate challenges, communicate effectively, and contribute positively to their communities.
