NIS Shines at City Wall Music Festival
Our school was honoured to participate in Nanjing’s City Wall Music Festival, a celebration of Chinese and Western cultural exchange in partnership with friendship city York in the United Kingdom. The inclusive NIS Concert Band, which is made up of students from Grade 4 to 10, had the distinction of playing the opening performance for the festival.
The event coincided with the Nanjing City Wall Museum’s 1st anniversary and saw over 100 attendees from Nanjing and York.
Led by Grade 10 student conductor Rosie, the Concert Band performed “80 Measures Around the World” for the music festival, which is comprised of over 25 different folk songs. It was an inspiring way to celebrate the partnership between two historic cities that both have ancient, beautiful city walls. We appreciate the recognition of our school by the city and the opportunity to deepen friendships and foster international mindedness in Nanjing and across the world.
