The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) is widely regarded as the most academically rigorous pre-university curriculum in the world, leading to a prestigious qualification that is respected by top universities internationally. Nanjing International School’s Class of 2021's outstanding IB results this year are not only the highest in the last 10 years of the DP at our school – they also greatly exceed global averages and put us in a leading position with top international schools worldwide.
“Our students achieved excellent academic results with an average diploma score of 38 out of 45 points (world average 33), 40% scoring 40 or more points, including 3 perfect 45s, average subject grade of 6 out of 7, and 42% awarded bilingual diplomas,” said Mr. Laurie McLellan, School Director. “All students in all three strands of our High School program achieved their required grades for university admission. I am so proud of the Class of 2021.”
These results show that our school’s unique approach to teaching and learning truly develops students who excel at the highest level of academic challenge.
“First and foremost, these scores reflect the highest levels of determination displayed by our students and the outstanding support they received from their teachers, especially over a very challenging period,” said Mr. Kasson Bratton, Director of Learning at NIS. “Personal excellence is not only something we talk about in our Mission – it is our core business. The successes achieved by our Seniors on their IBDP examinations is both a culmination of and testament to these efforts across our entire learning community.”
While we celebrate these impressive achievements, we do not believe that test scores define our students or determine their destinies. At NIS, students are much more than numbers. Results can change and improve as they learn and grow. Scores inform decisions and reflect achievements, which we are proud to recognize.
We provide opportunities for all our students to succeed. While the majority of our students in Grades 11 and 12 opt to study the DP, we are proud to offer other routes to graduation for all learners to unlock their potential and achieve success. Learn more about our graduation pathways.
Congratulations, once again, Class of 2021. Our heartfelt thanks to the amazing faculty, parents, mentors, and peers who helped them along the way.
