At first, this Strategy goal seemed to be about getting involved in China beyond the confines of the school and to break down barriers that limited our interactions with our host country. We have expanded the definition to include bursting all kinds of bubbles. We want our whole community to connect across cultures and perspectives. We want our students to be equipped with the skills that allow them to burst the bubble when they find themselves outside of their comfort zone: when they start out at university, work, or any other new environment.
To burst the bubble is to be equipped with the skills that connect learners with nature, people, culture and places.
How are we achieving this at NIS?
To help realize the Strategy goal of Bursting the Bubble, it all comes back to inclusion; knowing students, helping them have a voice in these conversations and interactions between groups in our community, and constantly trying to create a more just, equitable, diverse and inclusive school environment. We are also taking inspiration from innovative solutions to local and global issues, and developing empathy for others through taking action and demonstrating social responsibility.
