The Balance of Light Inspires Us

Our Grade 2–5 students took to the stage with a memorable and inclusive performance of The Balance of Light. Every child played an essential role – whether as performers, musicians, voice actors, or part of the backstage crew – bringing a unique story to life with confidence and care.

NIS productions like this go far beyond the stage. Through the process, students developed key Approaches to Learning, strengthening their communication and collaboration, exploring creative thinking, and building self-management skills. Most importantly, they demonstrated perseverance as they worked together over many weeks to create something meaningful to be shared with our entire community.

The Balance of Light is a wonderful reminder of the power of the arts at NIS – not as an addition, but as an essential part of how our students express ideas, solve problems, and grow together as an inclusive learning community.
