Student Voice Soars at Music Evening
Learning happens everywhere! One of the most beautiful examples of this can be seen, heard, and experienced at the NIS Music Evening. This annual event is a vibrant showcase where our Lower, Upper, and Secondary Choirs, along with the Concert Band, Rock Bands, and Solo Performers, share their talents. Music Evening also highlights our student conductors, who develop leadership skills by guiding their peers through one of the year's standout performances.
“The Music Evening is a celebration of musical talent, passion, and creativity, where both Primary and Secondary school students are able to exhibit personal excellence and showcase their musical talents,” said Ms. Heidi Dean, Primary Performing Arts Teacher. “Their months of hard work planning, practicing, and polishing their performance pieces culminate in their final performances at this fabulous concert, which hopes to uplift, inspire, and create lasting memories for both the performers and the audience.”
Music Evening doesn’t just provide an excellent platform for students to showcase their musical talents – it also underscores the importance of music education. Music plays a vital role in enhancing students' cognitive development and academic performance. It encourages creativity, boosts self-confidence, and teaches students essential life skills such as discipline and teamwork.
Incorporating music education within the context of our award-winning school Strategy components of Student Voice and Student Choice is a powerful combination. Allowing students to pursue their interests and pick their instruments or styles leads to deeper engagement and more personal investment in their learning, fostering freedom of expression and a real sense of ownership and agency.
