Senior Send-off 2026

Senior Send-off 2026 was a joyful and deeply meaningful celebration of the Class of 2026, bringing together students, families, teachers, and mentors for a memorable final assembly at NIS. With the Performing Arts Centre packed with the Grade 12 community that has supported this cohort throughout their journey, the event reflected both the spirit and strength of a class shaped by talent, leadership, and connection. The event was led by MCs Bryce and Khai – both part of our inclusive learning community since Pre-K – the assembly carried a special sense of continuity, levity, and heart. It was a rich programme of student performances, including music, poetry, and reflections, showcasing the creativity and character of a graduating class that has contributed so much to our school life.

The assembly also created space for reflection on growth and possibility. In her valedictory address, Joyce drew on a striking biological metaphor to encourage others to embrace challenge, reminding peers that growth happens when we step into the unfamiliar. “Every challenge was a kind of exposure that pushed me to step out of my comfort zone,” she shared, later encouraging younger students to “grasp the opportunities in front of you…because those are often the ones that matter the most.” Her words echoed the spirit of a cohort that has embraced opportunities across academics, service, arts, athletics, and leadership.

As Secondary Principal Sara Morrow reflected, this cohort is “more than just their numbers,” celebrating students’ “passions, dreams, talents, values, and support for others,” while recognising the many ways they have helped shape the NIS community – through initiatives ranging from TEDx, service and robotics to student leadership, the arts, and the school’s first GCD Up Conference. “This assembly celebrates all of that you have given to us,” Ms. Morrow said, “and hopefully that you’ve given to each other and yourselves as well.”

One of the most moving moments came as Grade 12 students were recognised alongside their Grade 1 Buddies, a fitting symbol of the relationships that define life at NIS. From standing ovations in the Performing Arts Centre to the traditional Senior Walk through cheering Primary students, and finally the cap toss on the lawn, the day was filled with moments of pride, gratitude, and celebration. Senior Send-off is always a milestone, but this year’s event felt especially rich in student voice, performance, and reflection – a fitting tribute to a class whose impact will continue to be felt long after they leave campus. Once a Lion, always a Lion!
