As we begin the 2026–27 school year, Nanjing International School faculty have once again come together not only to prepare their classrooms, but to continue growing as professional educators.

Before welcoming students back to campus, our faculty participated in a series of Professional Learning Days designed to strengthen collaboration, deepen shared practices, and ensure that every learner experiences the very best of an NIS education.

At NIS, our teachers are more than subject specialists. They are highly qualified, experienced educators who are committed to lifelong learning. Just as we encourage our students to be curious, reflective, and open to new ideas, our teachers continually refine their practice through professional development, collaboration, and reflection.

Professional Learning Days provide dedicated time for our faculty to learn together, share expertise, and align their work with our mission of creating an inclusive learning community that inspires international mindedness, personal excellence, and creative thinking.

This year, faculty engaged in professional learning focused on our inclusive learning community and personal excellence, deepening their understanding of diverse perspectives, translanguaging, and the development of student competencies needed to thrive in an increasingly interconnected and AI-influenced world. Teachers also participated in meaningful conversations about building common expectations, strengthening collaboration, and ensuring a strong start for all students.

A key part of these days is the opportunity for faculty to learn from one another. Collaboration is at the heart of an international school community, where educators bring diverse experiences, perspectives, and expertise from around the world.

Professional learning happens beyond designated training sessions as part of NIS's culture, where continuing education is integral to a teacher’s school year. Our educators model the same growth mindset we hope to develop in our students: a belief that learning is a lifelong journey.
