Passion in Action: Grade 10 Personal Project Exhibition

The NIS Personal Project Exhibition showcases the creativity, curiosity, and dedication of our Grade 10 students as they complete their IB Middle Years Programme journey and prepare for the IB Diploma. This year’s exhibition took on a new dimension – utilising our HUB space for the first time, with all three floors transformed into an interactive showcase of student-led inquiry and innovation.

From criminology and skincare science to the art of cosplay makeup, the projects reflected a wide range of interests and deep personal investment. One student explored psychological and sociological factors influencing crime rates, while another developed a line of products tailored to different skin types. Another brought cosplay to life through intricate makeup techniques, demonstrating the skill and artistry behind character transformation.

“The Personal Project fosters a deep sense of ownership and creativity, allowing individuals to explore their passions in a structured way,” said Ms. Anita Claasz, MYP Design Teacher and Personal Project Coordinator. “It enhances critical thinking and problem-solving skills as learners navigate challenges and adapt accordingly. Ultimately, this experience cultivates resilience and self-discipline, providing valuable lessons that extend beyond the project itself.”

As the capstone of the MYP, the Personal Project builds essential skills in research, time management, and independent learning, all key foundations for success in the DP and beyond. At NIS, it reflects our mission to inspire personal excellence, creative thinking, and international mindedness while aligning with our Strategy of Student Voice and Student Choice.

With another successful exhibition complete, our Grade 10 students leave this experience with more than just a finished product – they take with them a deeper understanding of themselves as learners, problem-solvers, and changemakers.

“We are proud of all the efforts and the commitment and perseverance our students showed,” said Ms. Claasz.
