NIS Senior Week: Study & Fellowship
Senior Week at Nanjing International School is an important time for our Grade 12 students, ensuring they're well-prepared and confident as they approach graduation. During this week, students receive dedicated self-study time tailored to their individual needs, allowing them to work diligently on the many components of their rigorous International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. These include internal assessments across their six core IB subjects, the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) essay, the Extended Essay (EE), and the Global Citizen Diploma/ Creativity, Activity, Service (GCD/CAS) portfolio.
While intensive study is a primary focus, the week isn’t solely about academics. Our team of specialised staff, including an EE Coordinator, GCD/CAS-Coordinator, DP Coordinator, Learning Support team, IT Tech Coach, personal advisors, and subject-specific teachers, offer both group sessions and individualised support. This ensures that every student receives the guidance they need, from specific subject insights to navigating the logistics of IB registration for the upcoming May 2024 exams.
Beyond the books, Senior Week also fosters fellowship and unity. Grade 12 students participate in team-building activities like Chinese Culture Club. A particularly heartwarming feature of the week is when our seniors meet their Grade 1 Buddies. These young companions will be by their side for playful activities and games during advisory periods, creating a bond that lasts until graduation, and inspiring each student to look forward and back on their learning journey.
Through this holistic approach to Senior Week, NIS reinforces a profound message: as they work towards graduation and their choice of top universities or next step around the world, our Grade 12 students are not alone. They are part of a tight-knit community that values deep learning, mutual support, and a strong sense of belonging.
