NIS organised and hosted the prestigious 2024 ACAMIS Math Olympiad for the first time since the pandemic. With over 60 students from schools across China in attendance, excitement was high. This competition represents the highest level of math competition for international schools in China, making it an important event for students passionate about mathematics. Young mathematicians participated in various rounds, including group and individual speed challenges. NIS was proud to take home 3rd place!
"We designed the Olympiad to highlight students' problem-solving and application skills, not just their ability to solve equations quickly,” said. Ms. Diane Keller, NIS Secondary Maths Teacher and event organiser. “It's about using what they know to approach real-world problems collaboratively."
The 2024 ACAMIS Math Olympiad saw NIS students, alongside their peers from other schools, compete in a series of skill-based activities, gaining points for their teamwork and creative approaches to challenges. This focus on diverse skills allowed students to showcase their strengths in a supportive and dynamic environment, setting the stage for future ACAMIS Math Olympiads at NIS and around the country. Congratulations and well done to all our student-mathematicians for their success and hard work at the ACAMIS Olympiad!
