JEDI Book Club Launches at NIS

At NIS, being a truly inclusive learning community is more than just an aspiration, it is an active pursuit of diverse voices and experiences. The NIS JEDI Bookclub launched this week with parents, caregivers and community members to explore Danau Tanu's "Growing Up in Transit: The Politics of Belonging at an International School". This brave and safe space sparked rich discussions about identity, safety and belonging, resonating deeply with participants and highlighting the diverse lived experiences of our learners as we navigate multiple cultural identities.

From the concept of Third Culture Kids (TCKs) to the complexities of cosmopolitanism, participants shared personal stories and perspectives, illustrating the intricacies of intercultural competencies. The openness and vulnerability of these frank discussions highlight the importance of creating a space for meaningful dialogue and reflection on our diverse community. Overwhelmingly positive feedback, including requests for extended sessions, reflects the book club's timely contribution to expanding our collective knowledge and understanding of intercultural dynamics. Future sessions will continue exploring critical topics through the lens of our diverse and vibrant community. Everyone in our community is welcome to join!
