Where students go to university matters. But so does who they become along the way.

At NIS Higher Education Night 2026, students, parents, educators, counsellors, and higher education professionals came together to look beyond rankings and acceptance letters – and consider what student success really means.

Through information sessions, conversations, and workshops hosted by Pearl Noh, NIS University and Career Counsellor, our community explored the competencies that prepare students not only for university admissions, but for life beyond school: agency, personal development, curiosity, authenticity, communication, resilience, and integrity.

In an increasingly competitive and rapidly changing AI-shaped world, supporting students means helping them discover pathways that reflect who they are, what they value, and who they hope to become. One of the highlights of the evening was a panel organised by Ms. Noh that included representatives from the University of Cambridge, IE University, and an NIS alumna currently at Columbia University. The panel discussed important considerations when selecting universities, the application process, and the cultural fluency students may need when studying in different countries. The session concluded with a lively and interactive Q&A.

Higher Education Night also highlighted the importance of partnership. When students, families, teachers, counsellors, and school leaders share an understanding of the journey, we create a stronger support system around every student.

At NIS, the measure of success isn't only “Where did our students get in?”

It is also:

“Who are our students becoming?”
