Grade 3 Investigates the Wonders of Science
Grade 3 embarked on an exciting journey through the world of Science as they continued to explore the different states of matter through their Unit of Inquiry 'How The World Works'. Students had the opportunity to visit our Secondary Science Labs, where they participated in four experiments to observe changing states first-hand.
“Under the expert guidance of our Secondary Science teachers, Grade 3 students learned about solids, liquids, gases, and the mysterious process of sublimation—the transition from solid to gas without passing through a liquid state,” said Ms. Haleema Ahmed, Grade 3 Teacher. “Many students were surprised and intrigued by this concept, asking questions that sparked lively discussions in the labs and back in their classrooms.”
This hands-on experience highlighted the importance of Student Voice and Student Choice at NIS. By actively participating in experiments like these, our students felt empowered to ask questions and express their curiosity. They embodied the IB Learner Profile traits of risk-takers and open-minded individuals, bravely stepping out of their comfort zones to Burst the Bubble and engage with the material – some of which even included dry ice!
“As Grade 3 returned to the classroom, their minds were buzzing with wonderings,” said Ms. Ahmed. “Many students expressed a newfound love for Science. This enthusiasm has initiated further experiments on states of matter, allowing students to explore their questions and deepen their understanding.”
We can't wait to see where their curiosity leads them next!
