Grade 1 Navigates Hongshan Zoo

Grade 1 students recently took their learning beyond the classroom with a field trip to the Nanjing Hongshan Zoo as part of their Unit of Inquiry, Where We Are in Place and Time. Throughout the unit, students have been exploring maps, symbols, and ways to record and share new information.

At the zoo, they worked in small groups to navigate the park, read directional signs, make observations, and document what they discovered. This hands-on experience allowed students to apply their skills in a real-world setting—turning learning into adventure and curiosity into understanding.
