GCD Up Inspires Our Community

Nanjing International School hosted the Global Citizen Diploma (GCD) Up Conference, welcoming Secondary students and teachers from Sydney, Muscat, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Hawaii, and São Paulo. This week-long event focused on themes such as Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI), as well as intercultural communication.

Participants engaged in a multi-day design-thinking project, collaborating to develop practical solutions aimed at enhancing student well-being, fostering a sense of belonging, and addressing specific needs within their respective schools. This initiative allowed students to showcase leadership, international mindedness, and collaborative skills, all while reflecting NIS's culture of inclusivity.

Beyond the conference sessions, attendees explored Nanjing's rich cultural heritage, visiting landmarks like the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, Ming Tombs, and Fuzimiao. They also indulged in local culinary delights, including dumplings and hotpot. These experiences provided a deeper understanding of Chinese culture and global citizenship for students from around the world.

The success of GCD Up was a collective effort involving teachers, students, guest speakers, and the generous support of parents who hosted visiting students. This event exemplified our NIS Strategy of 'Bursting the Bubble,' offering unforgettable memories and insights to all involved.
