At Nanjing International School, our educators never stop learning – and that's exactly why Professional Learning Days (PLDs) are so essential. These days empower teachers with innovative strategies for teaching and learning, ensuring classrooms are vibrant learning environments where every student in our community feels seen and supported.

This year’s PLDs began by grounding our work in our mission and strategic vision, emphasising how our eight strategic pathways guide teaching and learning at NIS. Faculty engaged deeply with translanguaging, exploring strategies to integrate the diverse languages and cultures our students bring to the classroom, while also reviewing updates on literacy approaches and programming as part of our ongoing commitment to English learning. We also continued to prioritise student well-being by reinforcing our understanding of the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS), sharing updates to our advisory programs, and equipping educators with effective strategies and resources to support the diverse needs of our students.

What makes PLDs at NIS truly special is their blend of professional rigour and community care. With this year’s JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion) workshops and First Aid trainings, staff and teachers alike continue to strengthen their capacity to nurture students.
