Student Activities - Parent Information
Student Activities are offered to Grade 1-5 students in our Primary School. These can include culture, crafts, performing arts, sports, and more. In Secondary School, our students participate in clubs, as well as performing arts and service, each helping them to develop interests and skills as well as find opportunities for student leadership and personal excellence.
Each activity is open to a specified range of grades and may vary year on year. The activity will normally run either all year round or a part of the year in preparation for a performance or event.
We are excited to announce that we will be using a new Activities sign-up system this year, starting from our Cycle 1 sign-ups on August 31. SchoolsBuddy is used by many top international schools in China and around the world. As part of our continuing commitment to you, our parents, we believe that SchoolsBuddy will help streamline the sign-up and activity scheduling process and improve your overall experience. You can easily sign in using your NIS ManageBac account. Please contact our IT Department for tech support. Learn more about how to login and use SchoolsBuddy.
For our Primary School Student Activities, we use a preference-based sign-up system. Parents select activities according to their preferences. This method ensures the fairness of allocations and importantly, this allows parents more time to select activities. Registration will close six days later.
As Secondary students are more independent and the group size is generally flexible, they will use the first-come, first-served method. Sign-ups remains open all year. Please note that some activities require auditions or permission from the Activity Leader.
This year, four (4), seven (7) week cycles of Student Activities will be offered. Student Activities information becomes available a few days before the registration dates:

NIS Student Activities Committee (NISSAC)
The NIS Student Activities Committee consists of a group of students in Grade 9 - 12 who actively participate in the Activities Program offered at NIS. Under the supervision of the Activities Director, Mr. Clarke, NISSAC helps organize events such as the Sports Celebration Evenings and ACAMIS Competitions hosted at NIS. NISSAC demonstrates our school Strategy goals of “Student’s Voice and Student Choice” to its extreme. The collaboration between NISSAC and the Activities department allows the exchange of students’ innovative ideas and teachers’ expertise, leading to many student-friendly events and activities.
